In mid-February, President von der Leyen announced the launch of the InvestAI initiative, aimed at mobilizing €200 billion for AI investments, including a dedicated €20 billion fund for AI gigafactories, envisioned as a “CERN for AI”, to empower European scientists and companies in developing cutting-edge AI models.
Furthermore, the AI Continent plan, launched in April, seeks to unlock AI’s full potential by establishing AI Factories that will provide tailored supercomputing capacity for AI start-ups and industries, while also implementing the Apply AI Strategy, designed to accelerate AI adoption across sectors.
